Chapter 1A
Transcript
A young child walks down an empty street, calling out for her parents. She cries 'Mama! Dada! Mama...?'
Something crash-lands behind her, startling her. When she looks, she sees it's a knight in armour.
The knight gets up and approaches her, brandishing its gardening scythe at her. The girl shuts her eyes and screams.
Someone shouts out, 'Zinnia Protection!' When the girl opens her eyes, she sees a red magical girl with a sunhat and long pigtails has used her power to shield her from the knight's attack.
The magical girl — Red Zinnia — picks up the child and carries her into an alley, putting her down safely behind one of the buildings. She asks the child 'Are you alright?'
Red Zinnia looks concerned. she says to the child 'You're not supposed to be here. Are you lost?' but the child doesn't respond.
Then Red Zinnia turns to leave, saying 'I have to go. Stay here, alright?' But the child reaches out and stops her.
The child holds onto the magical girl's skirt and looks up at her. Red Zinnia bends down and says to her 'It's pretty scary, isn't it?' and gently holds her hands.
Smiling at the child, Red Zinnia says 'I'm scared too, but right now... I have to be brave and go help everyone.'
She unties her sunhat and places it on the child's head. She asks the girl 'Can you help me by being brave and staying here until the bad guys are gone?'
The child nods, now looking more confident. Red Zinnia gets up and says 'That's great.' and waves at the child, saying 'Well, see you!' before running off back down the street.
The child looks on, now smiling, when the sunhat suddenly turns into a cloud of magical flower petals, and the flower on the hat turns into a red bug.
The red bug flies away and back onto the red magical girl's head as she and her friends continue to fight off the knights. The child watches in awe from behind the building.
The story of the Garden Guardians is told, accompanied by a picture of King Overgrowth and his minions capturing Florentina on the left, and the Garden Guardians on the right. The story reads:
'In the Kingdom of Botania there lived a girl named Florentina, who had the ability to make flowers grow. She was beloved by all, but the selfish King Overgrowth water her powers for himself, and locked her away in his castle.
Florentina asked her most trusted friends, the magical Flower Fairies, to excape and track down someone who could help her. They flew all the way to the Earth town of Willows Bay, where they met...'

The young girl from before, now wearing her hair in pigtails, is drawing a picture in a classroom of the magical girl that saved her. She says 'Red Zinnia! She's my favourite. When I grow up, I want to be just like her!
